During the press conference this week, Roberto Roy, the Director of Panama Metro, announced that Metro de Panama will begin pilot works on Line 2, which bring the project to 26% in completion.
Roy added that the progress of this work is seen in 12 of the 16 station of Line 2, that are built along the viaduct.
Currently the actual works are going around stations of Nuevo Tocumen, Altos de Tocumen, Hospital Este, Mañanitas, Tocumen Airport, Don Bosco, Pedregal, San Antonio, Cerro Viento , Cincuentenario, Paradise and Brisas del Golf.
The other stations, including , December 24, Villa Lucre, El Crisol and San Miguelito (transferring station) are in the first phase of the project of relocating infrastructure and upgrading roads.
Line 2 is scheduled to be ready by 2019 and the final testing can begin by the end of 2018, according to the contract, Roy said.
The initial investment into the project are of $1.857 billion and the metro will affect the life of almost 500 thousand people who live and travel between downtown and eastern parts of Panama City.
