Labor Market Research in Panama by Manpower

According to a recent study by recruitment company Manpower, it is expected that Panama will maintain the good performance and the trend in employment.

24% of employers plan to increase the budget for the wages in the current year, mainly during the second trimester. 65% do not plan an increase and 11% plan a budget cut.

Services and transport are the most dynamic labor sectors in 2014. Regions with the best performance are the capital and neighboring provinces.

The report also shows that there is a negative trend for the companies’ intention to continue hiring staff, however it is fairly noticeable with 0.7 negative points comparing to the same period in 2013. This is mainly due to a decrease in the dynamics of the construction industry, which now as slowed down as there are very few projects in the initial stage.

The reason for this may be the upcoming elections. Developers are waiting for the results of them in order not to become the victim of the new rules and implementations.
