Port terminals in the U.S., Colombia and Cuba are getting ready for the grand expansion of the Panama Canal.
Recently Panama hosted more than 400 delegates from ports of Houston, TX, Cartagena, Colombia Mariel, Cuba. The specialists came with the purpose to analyze and make necessary preparations for the future expansion.
Apart from that the leaders of maritime industry traveled to Panama City to take part in the discussions of “ XII Panama MaritimeWorld Conference and Exhibition”.
Hopefully, the expanded part of the Canal will begin its operations at the end of the first quarter of 2016.
The expanded Canal will serve vessels with the total capacity up to 12 thousand containers and 185 tons, which will eventually double the total capacity of the channel up to 600 million tones.
