Iberia Airlines officials confirmed that the frequency of flights between Madrid and Panama will be increased starting from June, 2014. Just as Dutch colleagues KLM offered their flights to Amsterdam in 2011, Spanish airline is trying to catch up.
With the new frequencies the passenger turnover will be increased by 40%. Thus, total amount of people traveling to and from Madrid will amount to 2,000. Increasing frequencing is one of the major ways to improve touristic inflow to Panama. With new flights to Madrid, tourists will have access to many new destinations in Europe and Asia.
Airlines are so attracted to Panama not just because of the growing tourism, but also because government of Panama provides incentive and appropriate policy. The government provides $10 million as a guarantee and covers it as company’s risk.
A few other companies announced their intentions to begin operation in Panama. Among them there is Lufthansa, TAP and others.
