After a few months of uncertainty, Air China has finally announced to begin the direct flights from China to Panama in March of 2018.
Past week Pres. Juan Carlos Varela traveled to China and the official statement was made there. Direct flights and new levels of investments was a big part of a general plan China has now in terms of Panama.
Air China will begin with two flights a week from Beijing, connecting through Houston, TX.
Although these two flights is a small move compared to what has been announced the beginning, it’s a solid first step in the relations of the two countries and it will strengthen their connection. Also, China is the largest and fastest-growing tourist’s market, so Panama can become a fresh destination for thousands of Chinese.
In addition to Air China, representatives of China Eastern, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines participated in the talks for the new aviation agreement. All of them admit that Panama is an important hub in the region and suggest further cooperation on a code-sharing basis with Panamanian Copa. Air China offers air travels to almost 400 routes, connects more than 180 around the world in 39 countries.
