Decameron Group is looking forward to the commencement of construction of the road between Cuango and Santa Isabel located in the province of Colón. This project will provide the green light for the beginning of the construction of Decameron hotel in the Atlantic coast.
The 320-room hotel will be located in Punta Cocoye near the town of Santa Isabel and represent an investment of $ 50 million. Jorge Loaiza, president’s adviser of Royal Decameron, said that once work begins on the road, the company will initiate the development of the complex which will be located on a land lot of 400 hectares.
Yesterday the Budget Committee of the National Assembly approved a starter transfer valued with 1.5 million dollars. This means beginning of the studies for the development of the 30-kilometer road that will connect Santa Isabel with the rest of the country. Currently to reach Santa Isabel one has to take a boat from Cuango.
Solomon Shamah, ATP administrator, said that the project will not only benefit Decameron, but becoming a starting point for the development of other tourist areas on the Atlantic coast, which currently remains a lot more unexplored comparing to the Pacific side of the country.
He also noticed that in accordance with the Tourism Master Plan for 2007-2020 years, it includes infrastructure projects on the Caribbean coast aiming to enhance general attractiveness of the place.
In studies prepared by the contractor it will be necessary to define the most effective route to the destination."The Decameron hotel will be one of the first investments made in the area, and I have high hopes that it will have the same effect that it made on the Pacific", the official said.
