Best hospitals in Panama

Before moving to a foreign country one of the main issues to think about is medical care.

In this way Panama is a very comfortable place, many local doctors were trained in the U.S. and fluently speak English. Panama has several high quality facilities most of which are priced lower than similar hospitals in the U.S. or Europe. Panama City has four modern, large hospitals. All of them are directly affiliated with U.S. hospitals.

Opened in 1949, the hospital consists of three building and hosts over 600 professionals. It is affiliated with  Baptist Health International of Miami, Miami Children’s Hospital, and Tulane University Health Services Center. The hospital has international office for the foreigners who don’t speak Spanish. Also there is a branch of the hospital in Coronado.

Hospital Punta Pacífica

Opened in 2001, an A-class medical services with very affordable prices. It has one of the best diagnostics and technical equipment and there is almost nothing that cannot be done here. Besides, there is a variety of rooms available, including presidential suite, 11 suites and 51 private rooms. The majority of doctors are bilingual.

Centro Médico Paitilla

Founded in 1975, it has more than 50 medical specialists. In 2001 the Oncology Unit was built and now considered to be the best in Panama. The hospital is affiliated with Cleveland, Ohio Clinic since 2001.

Hospital Nacional

Opened in 1973, this hospital is renowned for its expertise in gynecology services. The hospital has state of the art Da Vinci Robotic Surgical Systems for less invasive surgery procedures. It is affiliated with the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Kendall Center in Florida.  

Besides major mentioned hospitals there are other facilities in Panama which are less known, but also ready to offer high quality services and are priced even more fairly. The hospitals accept many international insurance programs, including: AETNA, AFSPA (American Foreign Service), ALLIANZ, BUPA, CIGNA, and EUROCROSS. In addition, there are many local Panama Private health insurance companies with lower premiums and variety of coverage plans which cover surgeries, hospitalization, drugs, and therapy. Some of the hospitals even offer their own hospitalizations plan, such is the case with Hospital San Fernando.
