Coffee lovers and wholesale buyers from around the world will soon gather in Boquete, Chiqiqui Province to select the best coffee taste in Panama for the long anticipated annual online auction.
From May 6 to 8, the group of 16 international experts will select 24 best tastes of 78 samples in three categories: natural, traditional, and Geisha. For each category they will evaluate the aroma, acidity, uniformity, sweetness, freshness, aftertaste, and other qualities.
Last year the plantation Los Cantares received the first place in Geisha category with total score of 90.86 points. Japanese company Saza prices it with astonishing $90.25 per pound. However the highest price received the coffee from plantation La Milagrosa which was sold to Kotowa coffee at whooping $93.25 per pound. Online auction this year starts June 11.
