Copa buys 61 new 737s from Boeing

Copa airlines, one of the leading airlines in Panama and entire South America, has signed a new contract with Boeing worth $6.6 billion dollars to buy 61 new 737 aircrafts, as a part of the recent visit of Us President Barack Obama.

So far this is the biggest deal made between Panama and America in the history of relationship of these two countries, according to Reuters. Obama was in Panama to participate in the Seventh Summit of the Americas.

In total, Copa will buy 61 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9.

“The new 737’s generation planes are the backbone of the current Copa’s fleet and the order of new machines is the commitment to the future growth”, mentioned Copa representatives.

Airline for years has been going with an aggressive campaign to make Panama the key hub between different continents.

Currently Boeing has 2,715 orders in progress from more than 50 different clients around the world so the deadline for the contact completion still has to be discovered.
