Panama is in the plans of two major airlines in the North American and European markets. United airlines, which recently merged with Continental, and German Lufthansa, are not ruling out increasing its presence in Panama.

These are cities where major hubs of the airline are located. Last year was difficult for United, the airline has recorded losses of $723 million; however that doesn’t mean the company should stop in its development. Last year the passenger traffic between Panama and mention U.S. cities was 258,997 passengers.

Meanwhile, Wolfgang Will, the CEO of Lufthansa expressed his opinion over the company’s plans in Latin America. He said that company plans to expand route map and include Panama. Unlike their North American ally, the German airline is doing great and last year recorded a profit of $524 million.

Wolfgang Will noted that Panama stands out among other countries in Latin America with its incredible economy performance. He added that there are more than 70 multinationals established in Panama. He hopes that direct flight with German cities will allow establishing connection with other destinations in South America.
