Coming week will be interesting in Chiriqui, as its annual Orchid Expo of Boquete is arriving. This is year it will be held between March 29 and April 7.
Mountain climate is very favorable for orchids and this flower feels great here. Expo often brings thousands of admirers of this flower and it usually is held of the bank of Caldera River. Annually 10,000 attend the fair and there are more than 30 collections presented.
The goal of such expo is to attract more attention to the question and sustaining the orchids. Organizers of the fair have taken great responsibility, as many of the species of the orchids are on the verge of extinction, mainly due to uncontrolled deforestation. Both local and foreign experts in orchids establish their gardens in Boquete, Chiriqui, Santiago, Chitre, Las Minas, El Valle de Anton and other places around the country.
