Panama tourism sector is now more competitive

According to a recent report by the World Economic Forum (WEF) on the competitiveness of the tourism sector around the world, Panama is the most competitive country in Central and South America. Out of 37 countries Panama holds 37th position, Costa Rica, Brazil and Colombia 47th, 51st, and 84th accordingly.

The report gets published every two years and each county is assessed by 15 criteria, including:

• Policy rules and regulations;

• Ensuring environmental safety;

• Safety;

• Air transport and dash and communication technologies;

• Benefits for the tourists;

• Price competitiveness and tourist flows;

• Human, natural and cultural resources.

From the last time the report was published Panama has risen by 19 positions. The improvement is seen in public transport, hotel infrastructure as well as a lot of development in tourist service. The further improvement should be done in cultural resources and safely.
