Tourists spend more and stay longer in Panama

Tourists spend more and stay longer in  Panama, according to new survey data by tourism experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF report showed that the time spent in travel to Panama is an averaged of 9.3 days.During this time it is estimated that each tourist spends a total of about $1,578.2 or  $169.70 per day.

As of October tourism spending totaled $ 2.782 million with a percentage increase of 7.9 % , according to statistics from the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP ), which means that when compared to the previous year for the same period there was an increase of $ 203 million.

The ATP expects this year visitor arrivals will increase between 6% and 7% , exceeding the 2.2 million visitors. The October newsletter tourism presents data that 77 % of tourists come by air, by the Tocumen airport .Meanwhile, 15% of tourists arrived on cruises and land 8% comes from Paso Canoas.

Transit through the Tocumen International Airport reached 6 million 389 thousand 124 passengers from January to October this year.This figure indicates an increase of 12% over the same period last year , revealed the figures in the annual report of the Department of Statistics ATP.
